I would recommend it as a platform to help planning

Harry found Teacherly:
  • Slightly builds student knowledge
Students have shown progress on their quiz scores
  • Not significantly increases student collaboration
    Very little opportunity for this
  • Slightly improves teaching efficiency and productivity
Once set up it is very easy to return to, tweak and redeliver
  • Slightly reduces teacher workload
It could improve it in the long term with good use of collaboration
  • Not significantly improves teacher knowledge and skills

I think I’d have to use it regularly to benefit fully from what the platform has to offer. At the moment it’s much easier for me to create lessons on PowerPoint as there is much more flexibility with moving images around and formatting text etc. I really like the idea of having the phase times and readymade templates.

Rashida Tang-Campbell found Teacherly:
  • Slightly builds student knowledge
I think when planning the platform makes teachers aware of skills gained, curriculum areas covered
  • Slightly increases student collaboration
I haven’t tried out for this purpose
  • Moderately improves teaching efficiency and productivity
Shared resources and as it’s an online platform can be accessed anywhere. Also, ready made templates
  • Moderately reduces teacher workload
Again, sharing resources - using and adapting resources available
  • Not significantly improves teacher knowledge and skills

Teacherly is easy to use and in that way better than some of its competitors. However, most teachers are comfortable using PowerPoint and wouldn't have any need to change, especially because the interactive functions that PowerPoints lack are not currently important while all learning is remote.

Dan Williams found Teacherly:
  • Slightly builds student knowledge
Enables teachers to ask questions to boost knowledge
  • Slightly increases student collaboration
The platform enables a teacher to pose discussion questions or set up group tasks
  • Not significantly improves teaching efficiency and productivity
None, as my colleagues don't currently use teacherly
  • Slightly reduces teacher workload
No platform can really reduce teacher workload as they are not the key to subject knowledge
  • Slightly improves teacher knowledge and skills
Not for me now but continued use could improve my knowledge of how to make the most of ICT

I am a total Teacherly convert! Great product

Lizzie K found Teacherly:
  • Significantly builds student knowledge
Templates support teachers to include vital knowledge in their lesson structure. e.g. pre-learning and vocabulary. Also, the quiz feature is a neat way to reinforce knowledge teaching and can be used at any point in a lesson.
  • Slightly increases student collaboration
If there are further school closures, I can see how I would use live streaming features to impact student collaboration and engagement. This isn't something I need to develop at present due to the age of my current students. However, Teacherly is definitely a safe online place for them to be, which is a high priority in my school.
  • Significantly improves teaching efficiency and productivity
I have been playing with and trialling Teacherly over the summer. I think the main benefit of Teacherly is the way it can be used to combine planning and resourcing in one place. Lessons can be easily shared with colleagues. I can even chat to them on the site whilst working on a lesson plan. Time is saved because I can use the templates to structure my lessons quickly (reminding me to include key features) and I don't need to duplicate planning documents onto endless powerpoints or smart notes. It's all in one place! I can collaborate with the new qualified teachers I am mentoring via the teams and live collaborate tools. If our school did close again, I can see how useful the student progress tool would be - I would know much more about engagement than I did when we were using other tools. There's quite a bit of flexibility in how I set up my classes and organise my lessons as well, which is useful.
  • Moderately reduces teacher workload
It's great to have such an extensive set of resources in one place to draw on. The tools prompt me to consider pacing, resourcing and progression within my planning without it feeling arduous. I'm recommending it to less experienced colleagues because I think it will support them develop good habits with their planning. And then there's the benefit of being able to demonstrate key phases in planning directly within the lessons created on Teacherly. Other short term planning documents would not be needed when using this product. This is huge - after 15 years of teaching, I know the importance of avoiding needless copy and pasting of ideas into different formats! Another timesaver is voice notes. I can use them to communicate quickly with whoever might be delivering the lesson I'm creating. It's especially useful when a HLTA is going to be teaching for me. Also, it won't matter what type of interactive display board I have, or if I move schools, I'll still be able to log in online and access everything I need.
  • Significantly improves teacher knowledge and skills
I've already used the tools to insert teacher subject knowledge documents into lessons I'm sharing with others. The way it works neatly avoids sending colleagues a whole list of folders / documents needed to teach a lesson. I can embed everything needed in the lesson on Teacherly. I can also use voice notes to add quick info for colleagues who are sharing my work with their classes. The reason this is particularly good is that I like to avoid cognitive overload on slides - important from a student point of view. But I can still include pointers, tips and key questions for teachers in comments and voice notes on each slide. These are unobtrusive, but can contain masses of information if needed.
