What is The Business School?

The Business School is a live, multiplayer business simulation for secondary business education, mapped to Edexcel A-Level Business (9BS0) and suitable for AQA 7132/8132, BTEC and IGCSE Business. Up to eight student teams run rival firms in one shared market, with each team member taking an executive role such as CEO, CFO, CMO, COO, CHRO or Sales Director. Every pricing, marketing and hiring decision affects the other teams live, and a market-share leaderboard shows who is winning. A full session fits a 60-minute lesson, and each phase length can be adjusted to fit shorter slots. Students join from any device with a 6-digit PIN. No downloads, no installations and no student accounts.

Teams price products against live rival demand, file UK VAT at 20% through an HMRC-style portal, take loans, invest in property and live-ticking stocks, allocate marketing budgets, hire specialist staff and negotiate one-attempt boardroom deals. Competitive actions drawn from real business cases add pressure, and a hired Legal Counsel can block them. Teachers control the pace, trigger crisis events, and watch every team from a live dashboard or a one-click projector view with automatic grading. Every decision carries its exam-specification code: students see a plain theme label while the teacher view shows the exact Edexcel 9BS0 sub-code, so the session counts as curriculum time rather than time away from it.

After each session every student receives an AI-generated personal report based on their actual decisions - one strength, one focus area and encouragement - plus a concept quiz and a printable certificate with a grade. A free solo practice mode (about 20 minutes, no PIN or licence needed) lets teachers and students try the simulation before running it with a class. The platform is browser-based, hosted in the EU, works on filtered school Wi-Fi and collects no personal data from students.
