I am now a paid up member so I can access PowerPoints and some other docs too, but tbh there is so much material on there that is free to download that I think I could have continued as a non paying member. If you're teaching in the classroom, the PowerPoints would be great but as a face to face tutor, I don't use them. One thing I do find frustrating is that if you key in a search for something specific, the docs suggested are not exact and you have to trawl through pages of suggestions (with tenuous links) in the hope you'll find one.

You are the pop quiz that never ends, The loading wheel that never bends. Students stare in silent dread, Watching SmartScores drop instead. Ninety-eight… ninety-five… ninety-two… fall, Each mistake echoing through the hall. “Almost there!” your cheerful cry, Then subtract five points… why, oh why? Two trains leave stations, here we go again, One goes north, one through my brain. Word problems march like an endless parade, Logic dissolves, confidence fades. IXL helped students I tutor perform well on their GCSE, gaining 8s after being predicted 5/6. I've started using it with other students now, both for practice and for the diagnostic when I first start with them.

Using SM for the past 2 years has been fantastic. The resources are great and really varied so that you can select the right things to use with individual classes. Everything is also created with up to date science education research in mind. The team at SM are very responsive to any queries or feedback and are a great support by providing lots of different training sessions for teachers at all stages of their career.

Because I think it is a waste of time t it is no fun.

I would say that it is lacking in some aspects, but I think that it would still be quite helpful to any student, especially if you want to revise or learn ahead as it provides all resources both above and below your grade level in your subject.
