What is DoodleLearning?

DoodleLearning offer four digital learning programmes for ages 4-14: DoodleMaths, DoodleEnglish, DoodleTables and DoodleSpell.

Created by teachers, for teachers, they’re designed to boost confidence and ability in maths and English — and reduce staff workloads!

Benefits for teachers:

  • Doodle creates every child a unique learning experience that automatically fills their gaps and tops up knowledge, helping them stay on track in school
  • Staff can instantly set work in any area of the curriculum for use as a pre-teaching, consolidation, intervention or homework tool, reducing their workload (and saving queues for the printer!)
  • Doodle automatically marks work and highlights each pupil’s learning gaps in an online hub, making it easy to offer additional support where needed
  • It provides instantly exportable data including the % of EoY objectives covered, helping with teacher handovers, PPMs, report writing and lesson planning

Benefits for pupils:

  • Doodle is filled with thousands of fun, interactive exercises, bringing the curriculum to life and reducing any anxieties they may have about maths and English
  • It sets work at just the right level for each child, letting them work independently at a pace that’s right for them
  • It rewards effort over ability, letting all pupils experience ongoing success and work alongside their peers on equal footing
  • In-app accessibility options, including audio dictation, hints and coloured overlays, empower children to learn anytime, anywhere

Recommended Usage

Doodle is designed to be used for 10 minutes a day, or ‘little and often’, using Doodle in this way has been proven by the University of Bath to raise attainment and reduce learning loss.

The staff are very helpful and the tasks are engaging for the children and they love the stars and competing against each other. The challenges are great as well. The children are so proud of their badges.

Anne Phillips found DoodleLearning:
  • Builds student knowledge
Some children are showing great improvements by doing the homework set that relates back to the subjects taught at school especially the maths
  • Improves attainment
The children are pre learning items before using them in class or having a refresh of certain writing or spelling rules
  • Reduces teacher workload
Homework can be set in advance of a subject being taught and also after. The work can be set in advance using the dates - would be nice to be able to do more than 20 assignments in one go so that a whole half term could be done in advance.
  • Improves teaching efficiency
I use the doodle questions in lessons to check understanding
  • Improves parent engagement
some parents really like it and really encourage it, other parents are against it as it is screen time - being able to print a version of the assignment would be nice to have as an option.

Enjoyable to use. Pupils are engaged with both daily tasks and assignments from lessons. We can reward and celebrate pupils' successes easily and engagement of certain pupils has grown, creating a more positive atmosphere and belief in Maths in school

Jamie Parker found DoodleLearning:
  • Builds student knowledge
Pupils are remembering more in class following on from completing assignments after the lesson content. We also find that we can engage more pupils who were not as keen to complete tasks within maths
  • Reduces teacher workload
  • Improves attainment
We have seen confidence built within our current yr6 pupils. They have shown that with regular daily tasks, they have seen improvements within their arithmetic tasks
  • Improves teaching efficiency
  • Improves parent engagement
We celebrate the successes of pupils' and how well they have completed their tasks and how many stars have been awarded. We have seen more pupils actively engage with it and so more parents are keen for their pupils to have access

Great programme but a little costly. If it was slightly cheaper, I would give it 10/10.

Sara Harper found DoodleLearning:
  • Builds student knowledge
Links to maths curriculum so able to pre-teach concepts before lesson starts.
  • Improves attainment
No evidence of this yet but only as it has been a trial period. I expect it will significantly.
  • Reduces teacher workload
Again, we are in a trial period but I expect that it will when used fully by all staff.

We have been really happy with Doodle English and Spell. Pupils have enjoyed using it and teachers find it helpful for monitoring progress, identifying and addressing gaps. It is a lot more interactive than our previous spelling subscription and provides actual teaching and explanations rather than just rehearsal.

A Vibert found DoodleLearning:
  • Builds student knowledge
Pupils recognise spelling patterns and rules. Doodle uses clear explanations and examples to support class teaching and is fully national curriculum aligned.
  • Reduces teacher workload
Provides immediate tracking of progress and makes it easy to identify gaps in pupil knowledge through the baseline. Quick to set assignments so perfect for homework and consolidation of lesson learning. Perfect for differentiation and meeting the needs of individuals as it creates individualised programmes based on the baseline assessments.
  • Improves attainment
When used regularly (including in school opportunities) Doodle reinforces learning and supports pupil knowledge.
  • Improves teaching efficiency
Baseline reveals gaps in learning and Doodle builds a personalised programme based on this. Doodle assignments are convenient to support teaching, for pre or post teaching or for pupils who have been absent and missed learning. It is quick and easy to set relevant assignments for homework or in class.
  • Improves parent engagement
We have not seen significant parent engagement in using Doodle, but this will be a focus in the next year.

It is a great app that enables learning in small steps, manages cognitive overload, gives instant feedback and strengthen prior knowledge all keeping maths challenging but at the pace of the children.

Carolien Bromley-morgans found DoodleLearning:
  • Builds student knowledge
During the new tasks the children build on current understanding and move on the next steps when they are shown to be ready.
  • Reduces teacher workload
It can strengthen a topic in a way that is familiar to the student and with children that need repetition of a certain topic it is helpful to keep this is working memory enabling it to be transferred to working memory. I enables homework to be set regularly to strengthen concepts that have been taught.
  • Improves attainment
The children are able to do learning in small steps enabling them to really understand a concept and the next steps can be built on easier enabling children to attain a higher standard of working.
  • Improves teaching efficiency
  • Improves parent engagement

Jun 2026

I've found it immensely beneficial for improving the confidence of my lower ability learners. It's enabled them to explore, practise and develop their skills without judgement and consolidate their understanding so that when they come to school, they're able to progress in their learning quicker because Doodle has helped them reinforce the foundation of their Maths skills.

Hannah Cox found DoodleLearning:
  • Builds student knowledge
It helps them to explore and practise concepts that we introduce in class together.
  • Reduces teacher workload
I can set lessons that are in line with my learning objectives to support and nurture pupil understanding.
  • Improves attainment
It helps develop pupil confidence by providing low stakes, high ceiling opportunities for my pupils. It enables less confident pupils to achieve, when they might not feel brave enough to push themselves in front of their peers in class tasks.
  • Improves teaching efficiency
The modelled examples and lesson structure enable more pupils to learn quicker than if I was working with them individually 1:1, whilst working my way around the room. They're able to ask for help using the help function and get an answer far quicker than putting up a hand.
  • Improves parent engagement
Our parents can track their progress and use the 'zones' and coloured spots to see how their son/daughter is finding each topic; offering targeted help at home in a particular topic if needed. They also LOVE the Winter/Spring and Summer challenges as a way of keeping skills fresh and supporting their children at home.
