It is a user friendly way of building a record of each child's reading as they go through the school. The children love it as well as the staff and enjoy collecting their gems! For teachers and teaching assistants, it is also a good way of keeping in touch with what each child is reading and how they are progressing through reading bands.

Paula found GoRead:
  • Significantly improves teaching efficiency and productivity
Better understanding of words the children find tricky to read aids planning of reading and writing lessons.
  • Slightly saves school money
Similar cost to buying paper based reading records.
  • Significantly improves parental engagement
Parents have expressed how much they and their children enjoy using Go Read compared to a paper reading record. They have said that their children are more enthusiastic about reading. They also like to see what the children have been reading at school which helps to build links between home and school.

Great system, but needs a way for school leaders to be able to generate some useful data.

Tony McCoy found GoRead:
  • Moderately improves teaching efficiency and productivity
Comments can quickly be uploaded when multiple children are read with in a group by a teacher or LSA. Older pupils can engage with the app themselves, giving them ownership. Busy parents can access the app rather than having to write and record in a book. Save on paper!
  • Slightly saves school money
The app is a similar price to purchasing whole school reading records.
  • Slightly improves parental engagement
Some parents prefer the online system, but others prefer to write in a book.

It's becoming so much more than just a reading record and is taking over some of the monitoring of home reading which used to be done by staff surveys. Also, handing out a lost login is easier and cheaper than a new paper record book.

Miss S Raby found GoRead:
  • Moderately improves teaching efficiency and productivity
Being able to monitor who has read and reward them from home has been invaluable recently.
  • Slightly saves school money
It replaced paper reading records this year.
  • Slightly improves parental engagement
During lockdown it has been great to be able to keep track of who's reading and how often. We're looking forward to an alert function on the app to help remind parents to log reading as this is an ongoing issue.

The Go Read program is fantastic. It helps to solve many problems with lost/damaged reading diaries, helps parents out who are more likely to have a phone within easy grasp than a pen and the children enjoy using it and feel grown up accessing this. Russell is amazing and is on hand to help resolve any issues as quick as a flash - no matter what he is doing!

Kerry found GoRead:
  • Significantly improves teaching efficiency and productivity
It helps provide one to one feedback to children that can be seen by the child, parent and teacher so that everyone is on the same page. You can pose questions to help move the learner on as well as assist should there be any issues.
  • Significantly saves school money
We have not had to buy school reading diaries and by signing up to Go Read it is cheaper than having the physical books that get lost, damaged and need replacing often.
  • Significantly improves parental engagement
Our parents enjoy using Go Read and we have had lots of positive feedback from parents about how efficient and affective it is. Many parents are pleased we moved away from the physical reading diaries that can get lost, damaged and forgotten at home. By using this we can see if a child has read at home even if they forget their book.

I have already highly recommended it to everyone I know!

Louise Bradley found GoRead:
  • Significantly improves teaching efficiency and productivity
When hearing 1:1 readers, there is no time lost whilst pupils look for their paper reading records etc.
  • Slightly saves school money
GoRead is a little cheaper than the paper reading records we used to provide, but it is a much better system as we don't have to provide replacements, and the data follows the children through the school so it saves on storage space too.
  • Significantly improves parental engagement
Parents find it really easy to log reading using an app on their phone, rather than hunting for a pen that works etc.

Go Read is a game changer. It has everything we want and could ever need in a digital reading record. The ease of the day to day use saves so much time. Records are there when you need them at the click of a button. We've found after only using Go Read for a short space of time that we've saved so much time. We also like the ISBN scanner and the way the system keeps a log of the books that the children have read! All in all Go Read is a definite winner all round for us!

James Gartland found GoRead:
  • Significantly improves teaching efficiency and productivity
Go Read has changed the way we record our reading. Go Read is both simple and effective to use and as a staff we have found that it saves so much time - we find it so much quicker than the time spent writing in a reading record.
  • Significantly saves school money
The price of £1 per pupil, per year is cheaper than the current reading records that we buy.
  • Significantly improves parental engagement
All of our parents fully engage with Go Read. After sending home the information provided by Go Read they all signed up that evening and started using the digital reading log.

Go read is really easy to use. You can quickly see which books children have read and how often they are reading in school and at home. The children have also really enjoyed using the reward system attached to GoRead.

Alana found GoRead:
  • Significantly improves teaching efficiency and productivity
Go Read allows teachers to log readings progress and targets through the comments section and to share these with parents quickly and easily.
  • Significantly saves school money
Go read is equal to the cost of a reading diary so over the year it will save us the cost of one reading diary per child as our children normally had 2 diary's per year.
  • Significantly improves parental engagement
Parents are engaging well with the app as it is quick and easy to use on their phones or electronic device.

I like that it keeps a record of what the children are reading and that I can show the children as a class on the whiteboard which children are reading. I find it takes slightly longer to log reading and check who has read than it would if I was using a paper reading record but I no longer have the issue of children saying that they have forgotten or lost their reading record.

Katie Walker found GoRead:
  • Moderately improves teaching efficiency and productivity
Just over half of the children in my class are reading at home at least every other night and are logging their reading through Go Read.
  • Significantly saves school money
We are not wasting photocopying resources producing reading records and replacement reading records.
  • Moderately improves parental engagement
Some of the EAL parents have struggled to access it, however, historically we found that this was also the case with paper reading records.

I'm really impressed with the app at present, but also how they are continually trying to make it even better! I also think they are listening to their customers.

Amanda Myers found GoRead:

Logging how often a child is reading in school and at home.
  • Significantly saves school money
The annual subscription costs less than the hardcopy books.
  • Significantly improves parental engagement

I am also the English Lead at my school and I am able to obtain reading data from each class myself without taking up the time of the class teachers. It was very easy to set up and use and Russell Newman was very helpful and responded quickly to queries or questions that I had. It gives schools the opportunity to use reading at home data to inform planning and for assessment purposes. To do the same using a paper system would require a huge amount of effort and time.

Sarah Dryden found GoRead:
  • Significantly improves teaching efficiency and productivity
It helps me when planning as I can review a child's reading progress and decide their next steps. I can also pick up on areas for development.
  • Slightly saves school money
We were previously using paper reading records, I think the cost is about the same.
  • Significantly improves parental engagement
Parents are able to share the experience of their child reading to them and the information can be keyed into the system from any location. It isn't reliant upon a reading record being available. I can review whether I'm working in the classroom, at home or in the school office.

It saves time and allows you to record reading notes electronically as you listen to children read. As it’s online, no printing is needed to keep records!

Since the App has been launched at my daughter's school its been easier to record her daily reading with home books as well as school books. The app is never left behind in school. Both myself and my wife can log her reading independently and each can see the results instantly.

Sharaz Mushtaq found GoRead:
  • Moderately improves attainment
    Nothing specific as yet
  • Moderately builds student knowledge
Being an app it works well with the current Digital era we live in. Children and parents alike like the single point of storage and all historical reading available. It also allows home books to be logged as additional reading.

Books are logged on the app and there are no paper records to pass around.
  • Significantly saves school money

Verity Graham found GoRead:
  • Slightly improves attainment
  • Slightly builds student knowledge
  • Significantly improves teaching efficiency and productivity
It is quicker to record individual reading with children. GoRead means that there does not have to be a paper folder to flick through and find children's records.

  • Significantly improves parental engagement
Some parents prefer to type and use technology rather than hand write comments.
