Croydon Council HQ

Croydon council is the most terrible council in London.  Most of the staff are not transparent neither professional. I was allocated a property 6 month ago and it is my worst nightmare.  The council knew that my son has special needs and they forcefully took me out of the accommodation that was suitable for my son needs to a place where the next door neighbour continuously make noise at any time of the day. I have been calling, crying, and complaining about the current situation to the council but they were garment. I have asked for the council to rehousing me to suitable accommodation but nobody cares.  My son is depressed and so are my.

Most of the saff are disrespectful and don't know when and how to speak to tenants.

That is why most people in Croydon Borough are depressed and developing mental health issues.

The council is in a mess and they need to bring suitable and professional people to work with service users in the Borough.

Why do the staff lie so much. I was told someone would get back to me over a matter of my email being blocked. I have unlimited call and was waiting for 2hrs and nobody got back. Tried new email address was still the be same. Croydon is a jungle where nobody really care and they give us a lecture about being polite to the staff. There has been one person I have dealt with in person who has been so helpful. My one star represent zero

Bin men spilt rubbish in my road after a recent collection. Couldn't report the issue via the website as the collection schedule was wrong and the site kept insisting my report was more than 2 days after the collection, so was rejected. Eventually spoke to someone who was clueless. After endless re-explanations of a straightforward problem, they gave me a non-existent email address to report the issue.
Eventually used the general email address for the council. They have still done nothing about it, so the refuse is rotting in the middle of the road.
This council could be run more effectively and efficiently by a bunch of chimpanzees (no disrespect to chimpanzees intended).

Didn't send an initial PCN and now sending me letters threatening to send bailiffs to enforce an non existent writ. No way of appealing and didn't respond to emails. I know they're short on money but this level of fraud is pathetic behaviour expected only of criminals, con artists and the like!

Croydon Council absolute disgrace!

Where do I start?

Have been Croydon resident for 10 years and boy has it's gone down the hill in front of our eyes.

1. Croydon council employs incompetent, uderqualified, unsympathetic people with no customer service I would even say human skills whatsoever. Unfortunately these people who are rude in your face (as they are the "face" of the council) give a bad name to those 1 or 2 of each department who actually do a good job out of bad situation. You're lucky if you ever manage to get to them by accident.

2. If you need any help... better get prepared for the ride. Without lawyers and nerves of steel you most likely won't sort out anything.

3. There are more bouncers in the council than actual workers. You can see that there are so many people floating behind the window in reception team area, but accessible are 2-3 at a time, bouncers 6-7 (plus a few on Jobcentre side).

4. No idea what is the point of reception team whatsoever besides to receive overinflated salary when that money could be used for something more useful.

5. No people to talk to. Even though you see staff around, seems that noone answers about anything.

6. Non working automated phone line/email operated system.
On the phone.
If you get lucky and the staff hears what you need, you get directed to main switchboard number. As everyone calls the same number the phone line is overloaded and you will be waiting in best cases no less than 10-20mins. on hold in worst cases 30-1h or when disconnected.
E-mails.
Depending on the case, department and person you get through to. What I have had to encounter 10 years ago reply was within days.
Now in the best case (and only if THEY NEED something from you) within a week or 2. If YOU NEED something it could be months to undetermined.

There are many more issues which I might update on later.

Basically, public service paid by public money but not for public.
