Blackout provides a digital solution for a digital problem, which is why I give it a full 10/10. Rather than relying on physical pouches or total bans (which often lead to lost devices or unnecessary friction), it gives us an intelligent, practical way to manage mobile phone use across our school. It automatically restricts non essential apps and notifications during the school day while allowing pupils to keep their devices for safe commuting. The emergency bypass feature offers peace of mind to both parents and staff, with clear usage logs ensuring complete accountability without compromising student privacy. Since implementing Blackout, we have seen a dramatic reduction in classroom distractions, zero phone related disciplinary issues in our initial rollout, and a far safer environment across the entire site. Setup and ongoing administration have been effortless, making it an essential, future proof platform for any leadership team looking to transform their school culture.
