Would give it zero stars if I could. If you're a prospective parent or teacher, ask how many times the owner has been in court. Actually, just look it up. I'm sure it's public record. Also ask about teacher turnover while you're at it, and don't fall for the "expat teachers move a lot" lie commonly cited. Compare it to other schools' turnover rates and you'll spare yourself several thousand euro in lost school and lawyer fees. Where does the money go? Certainly not to the buildings, supplies, or salaries. Teachers, familes are wonderful. Owner makes life impossible. See a letter from a former MIS student as proof!

Over 1 year ago we entered our 3 children (1 in Primary, 2 in Secondary) into The Metropolitan International School. Our family is familiar with both private and public schools, but this was our first experience at an international school.

Since then we have become strongly convinced of the value of the international approach, both from an academic as well as a global perspective. Our children have received a strong education over the past year, and the work is both relevant and challenging for them.

The environment was the biggest surprise. Students are kind, supportive and inclusive, and my children benefitted from having friends from different parts of the world. They help each other and challenge each other, and it made even the hard assignments more fun to approach. MIS is a community of students, as well as teachers and families, which work well together to support the growth of the children.

While is was initially a big transition for my children to move to another country, and adjust to a new language, the driving point behind our children's success has been that they continued to enjoy learning and the MIS community.

We are having my three kids in this school since two years and we have also been in Heidelberg and Mannheim for many years. Yes, the fees are a lot and we do struggle some times, but the school really has a lot to offer. Too bad the German tax system does not understand the importance of private investments into schools. We prefer to invest in our kids now then trying to " fix" them after having made bad experiences at the early start of their lives. There is a very low bureaucracy and you can talk to teachers and managers any time. The classes are small enough and there are plenty of teachers who take great care of the kids. It is a truly international school without religious influence but still very high in ethics and global awareness. The management and the school strive for constant improvement. They teach children to be proactive, supportive and don't allow any type of discrimination. Mobbing is very strongly controlled and the kids grow up protected in a great variety of possibilities. Reasonable questioning will always be reasonably answered. I believe it is one of the only school in the area which includes all ages from 3-19. Appreciation, forgiveness and social responsibly are highly valued. The kids grow up in a natural international environment. The best way to prevent from discrimination and support global understanding. I have been parent council in Baden-Württemberg and I have to tell you that it is very hard to open a private school like Mr. and Mrs. Bentgens have done. I don't always agree with everything they do, but I always have someone to listen and considering what I have to say. Every public school should take this school as an example. As a school with many expatriates I think they are doing a great job integrating foreign kids giving them a great experience of how life can be in Germany. Kids in this school are being prepared for a global, high tech world in which each of them has to take on their own responsibly and be proactive.

Unprofessional

After visiting the MIS Mannheim in October 2015 we wanted to enroll our daughter in the kindergarten (reception grade I) and applied almost immediately for school year 2016/2017. Beside the initial note, that we will be informed by March/April 2016, we have never received any official communication/response. We are astonished by this rudeness and lack of professionalism, especially from such supposedly elite institution.

I was in mis as a student for six years. It has bewn a wonderful experience. I had a lot of wonderful teachers and friends. Mis is not only a school l,it's a family. I could only recomond MIS.
