What is Book Village?
Book Village is an online tutoring platform for reading. The platform connects foundation phase learners to volunteer tutors from around the world for one-on-one support that assists learners to read at their own level and pace. The app uses the Aweh! levelled reading series from Oxford University Press and has a phonics lesson preceeding each book. The app includes reading assessments to determine initial reading level and progress over time. We believe that the human connection is essential in the learning-to-read online process. The Book Village app is safe, easy to use, efficient, measurable and proven to be effective in teaching children to read.
