What is MyTutor?
At MyTutor, we run online one-to-one tuition programmes that reinforce classwork, helping pupils to build confidence, plug learning gaps and achieve their target grades. Trusted by 450+ schools and some of the biggest multi-academy trusts across the country, our programmes connect pupils with handpicked, talented tutors studying at the UK’s top universities. Online lessons fit conveniently into pupils’ timetables and are tailored to their individual needs, enabling them to make 1 whole grade of progress on average after a term – 2.5x the progress of their peers. Every lesson is recorded, so students can re-watch at any time for revision.
Each pupil needs a laptop or computer (ideally with webcam feature) and microphone headset to get the most from their tutoring sessions. Schools will also need reliable broadband internet access, and, if lessons are taking place on-site, a space for pupils to study. Most of our schools use a classroom, IT suite or library to host sessions.
However, in the case of school closures, students can also easily have lessons at home, as long as they have Wi-Fi access, a microphone-enabled laptop and (ideally) a webcam. Many schools use MyTutor for alternative provision for anxious students for this reason.
Teachers who will be running the programme will need to have an onboarding session (~30 mins), via webinar, for a walkthrough of our teacher portal - the central dashboard that allows you to view all upcoming and completed lessons, pupil attendance data and tutor feedback.
IT technicians will also need to have a set-up call with us (~30 minutes) to ensure that all equipment is set up correctly for seamless lessons. Students don’t need to have any formal training, although we do provide user guides and resources to help them get started.
The prices of our programmes vary depending on how many students are enrolled, and how many tuition sessions they have. Typically, the price per session is £21-£25, with the lower pricing bands unlocked if you enrol more students.
