We can't do the things that we do now without it. After taking the time to build capacity and to learn about how best to use the system, the impact is significant.
Rebekah Swift found Nautilus:
- Improves attainment“We've seen a real change in outcomes over the last 18 months. Nautilus has helped to drive some of our key priorities.”
- Improves teaching efficiency“It's made a big difference to how we work. Previously we were very paper heavy, now it's all much simpler. Took a while to onboard staff but once it was in place, they really liked it. Staff comment regularly on how it helps to lead subjects and for me, SEND.”
- Improves teacher knowledge“I do SEND walks each term and everyone gets a feedback report emailed to them as I leave with recognition and suggestions for development. This is how all leaders work. Much more professional dialogue and collaboration.”
- Saves school money“Looking at other products, this is very positive. When we first did the demo, we were very surprised at the cost given what it can do.”
- Builds student knowledge“The children learn better now, so I would say this has shifted our work. We're more formative and look closer now at pedagogy.”

It's a wonderful system of capturing what is happening across the school and storing the information in one place reducing workload significantly.
Arwyn Jones found Nautilus:
- Improves attainment“It's given leaders a better visibility of learning. But we're still at an early stage of using Nautilus and will use the data to help inform school planning for next year.”
- Improves teaching efficiency“Again as we're just starting our journey with Nautilus it's hard for us to so that we've notice impact yet but we can definitely see the potential and have noticed strengths and weaknesses.”
- Improves teacher knowledge“Due to the surveys happening and being shared with teachers their understanding of what good practice looks like has developed.”
- Saves school money“Not yet, but I believe once we establish the performance management side of Nautilus this will significantly save time therefore having an indirect effect on spending.”
- Builds student knowledge

We've made a real shift in terms of how things are done. We had training to onboard staff to begin with, and from there have continued to do our own in house CPD. There's a good balance of challenge and support, and the dialogue is more open because this is no longer high stakes. The actual process saves hours and is far more insightful than the paper based approaches that we used to do. Having everything centrally changes everything.
Geoff Test found Nautilus:
- Improves attainment“We've done some very good work this year on feedback loops and how they help staff to teach better. Nautilus has been central to this. Our teachers are now delivering better lessons and the feedback from them has been positive. Assessment outcomes reflect this.”
- Improves teaching efficiency“Probably the best thing. Less time writing reports and doing monitoring admin and more time talking about pedagogy and school improvement.”
- Improves teacher knowledge“We're developing this further. Using partnerships across school to enable staff to learn from each other. Being able to send supportive feedback to colleagues from your iPad is very powerful.”
- Saves school money“Very cost effective. Hard to express how this saves time for staff and the impact of absence and wellbeing.”
- Builds student knowledge“Outcomes reflect teaching, no doubt. We focus on developing how staff teach.”

We've seen some very quick results but have scratched the surface. I think that there will be more to learn and the software is always developing.
Ella Wilmone found Nautilus:
- Improves attainment“Nautilus has changed how we approach pedagogy in our classrooms. Instead of waiting for end-of-term assessments to realise that children may not have made progress, we now work more formatively to teach better.”
- Improves teaching efficiency“This is the biggest benefit. We had training to get everyone set up, and then could begin to use the system properly. We now work with short, quicker monitoring activities.”
- Improves teacher knowledge“Our staff work together and benefit from good quality feedback. This cycle is good for also spotting training needs, especially for support staff.”
- Builds student knowledge“Better teaching equals better outcomes. We have faith that this is the best way to use the platform and to work.”
- Saves school money“Very affordable. Even with the training. The long term savings are clear but the best thing is that it's efficient, so we can manage workload pressures better.”

It's revolutionised our staff-monitoring system and has been instrumental in trying to change the culture of observation to one of peer support and celebration of strength through photographs and commendations. I love that the team are continually developing the software and adding new innovations - their K-Box report is brilliant for inspections and governors! We are now looking to exlore their appraisal 360 section in order to streamline our process and make our appraisal system more collegiate and supportive, whilst still ensuring room for development of staff. I love how everything can be personalised and adapted to suit your particular school and they cater for the independent sector, as well as the state sector. I have recommended it to lots of schools as I think it is genuinely brilliant!
Samantha King found Nautilus:
- Improves attainment“The gallery allows teachers to see good examples of learning in the classroom and improve their own practice, ensuring attainment for all is improved.”
- Builds student knowledge
- Improves teaching efficiency“It allows regular learning walks to be understaken easily and quickly, minimising paperwork and stress for teachers. Those in middle leadership can stay on top of their subjects in a far more efficient manner.”
- Improves teacher knowledge“The opportunities for regular feedback and sharing of good practice build up teacher knowledge and develop skills easily.”
- Saves school money“This is our first purchase of monitoring tech but I think the pricing is reasonable and was reason we decided to give it a go. I think it's great value!”
