It is a user friendly way of building a record of each child's reading as they go through the school. The children love it as well as the staff and enjoy collecting their gems! For teachers and teaching assistants, it is also a good way of keeping in touch with what each child is reading and how they are progressing through reading bands.
Paula found GoRead:

Great system, but needs a way for school leaders to be able to generate some useful data.

It's becoming so much more than just a reading record and is taking over some of the monitoring of home reading which used to be done by staff surveys. Also, handing out a lost login is easier and cheaper than a new paper record book.
Miss S Raby found GoRead:
- Moderately improves teaching efficiency and productivity“Being able to monitor who has read and reward them from home has been invaluable recently.”
- Slightly saves school money“It replaced paper reading records this year.”
- Slightly improves parental engagement“During lockdown it has been great to be able to keep track of who's reading and how often. We're looking forward to an alert function on the app to help remind parents to log reading as this is an ongoing issue.”

The Go Read program is fantastic. It helps to solve many problems with lost/damaged reading diaries, helps parents out who are more likely to have a phone within easy grasp than a pen and the children enjoy using it and feel grown up accessing this. Russell is amazing and is on hand to help resolve any issues as quick as a flash - no matter what he is doing!
Kerry found GoRead:
- Significantly improves teaching efficiency and productivity“It helps provide one to one feedback to children that can be seen by the child, parent and teacher so that everyone is on the same page. You can pose questions to help move the learner on as well as assist should there be any issues.”
- Significantly saves school money“We have not had to buy school reading diaries and by signing up to Go Read it is cheaper than having the physical books that get lost, damaged and need replacing often.”
- Significantly improves parental engagement“Our parents enjoy using Go Read and we have had lots of positive feedback from parents about how efficient and affective it is. Many parents are pleased we moved away from the physical reading diaries that can get lost, damaged and forgotten at home. By using this we can see if a child has read at home even if they forget their book.”

Go Read is a game changer. It has everything we want and could ever need in a digital reading record. The ease of the day to day use saves so much time. Records are there when you need them at the click of a button. We've found after only using Go Read for a short space of time that we've saved so much time. We also like the ISBN scanner and the way the system keeps a log of the books that the children have read! All in all Go Read is a definite winner all round for us!

I like that it keeps a record of what the children are reading and that I can show the children as a class on the whiteboard which children are reading. I find it takes slightly longer to log reading and check who has read than it would if I was using a paper reading record but I no longer have the issue of children saying that they have forgotten or lost their reading record.

I am also the English Lead at my school and I am able to obtain reading data from each class myself without taking up the time of the class teachers. It was very easy to set up and use and Russell Newman was very helpful and responded quickly to queries or questions that I had. It gives schools the opportunity to use reading at home data to inform planning and for assessment purposes. To do the same using a paper system would require a huge amount of effort and time.
Sarah Dryden found GoRead:
