What is Purple Mash?
Purple Mash is an award-winning cross curricular website for primary school children, enabling them to explore and enhance their knowledge in a fun and creative way.
Cloud-based, it delivers an exciting mash-up of curriculum focused activities, creative tools, programs and games. There is a Purple Mash add-on called Serial Mash, an online library which contains digital fiction books with guided reading resources and activities.
For parents, Purple Mash contains free home access for all pupils. For teachers, Purple Mash provides ready-made editable long-term, medium-term and individual lesson plans, a full assessment framework, curriculum maps, whole school schemes, video tutorials, built-in CPD and free CPD events.
Purple Mash works across a range of different devices, from tablets to interactive whiteboards.
Recommended Usage
As a whole-curriculum resource this would be dependent upon the specific tool and objective. For example, if using the multiplication tool, using it once a day for 5 minutes, learners and teachers would start to see impact within a couple of weeks. But if using one of the creative animation tools the level of usage would be different.

Great scheme, even better with the new enhancements. Weekly 2BeSafe sessions enable quick, 15 minute lessons to ensure children are equipped with the knowledge of how to be responsible digital citizens and keep themselves safe.

Why faff around with free software when you've for everything under 'one roof'!? It's safe and child centred. We use the scheme of work as it's ideal for our ipads (we don't have laptops or PCs in or school). So many pre-loaded activities to enhance pupils learning. I'd use it daily with the kids but we don't have enough ipads in school.

User friendly, easy to follow, no requirement for teachers to add more to it. Could be more modern/tech feel to it, could be a bit clearer for the children to follow the steps

Purple Mash has been fantastic for our school. Most teachers have said how it has been easy to set up in classrooms and how children are always excited to begin their computing lessons. Purple Mash has it all - a computing curriculum and support for many other areas of learning. I first engaged with it as the digital Lead and Year 3 Class Teacher, and feedback from staff is very positive and all teachers are using Purple Mash with their classes and have become much more confident. Also, whenever I use it , I find something new to explore or use - it has increased my skill, confidence and knowledge too .The children really like exploring and using Purple Mash.

Very child friendly, diverse in subjects. However, it is a standalone platform..it isn't what is used in the real world which makes some units hard to transfer skills
