I find ways to use it in every aspect of school life. I am SENCO and also a Speech and language therapist and visuals are crucial for all.

    Using symbols to manipulate can reduce the reading & writing load on children and allow them to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding despite specific difficulties
  • Moderately increases student collaboration
    Used it for school council elections so every pupil could vote. Can be used so even children with speech and language or processing difficulties can contribute
  • Moderately improves teaching efficiency
    Can allow pupils to be more independent. Can reduce need for constant repetition of instructions
  • Moderately improves behaviour or wellbeing
    Used in a Reflect and repair book to focus engagement in restorative practice. Constant visual reminders of school rules. Can use sticker templates to produce targeted feedback
