• Builds student knowledge“Students who are sometimes reluctant to do home learning are eager to keep their streak on Doodle. This has improved number recognition and understanding.”
• Reduces teacher workload“Students and parents want recognition for streaks upheld and high star tallies. To engage children, this is an additional time constraint. The Maths lead gives certificates in assembly, and it is easy to assign work. I am exploring children accessing the app independently in class to see if this impacts workload.”
• Improves attainment“Certain children access maths at home every day due to their drive to maintain a streak. I have similar reports for Doodle English.”
• Improves teaching efficiency“I don't use it in lessons specifically; it is currently used more as a homework tool. I plan to explore this further, though, and it has helped parents to understand what we are covering in class. It is reported often however, that children are set tasks that are way to hard for their age group.”
• Improves parent engagement“Parents enjoy that their children want to access homework. Some parents are on board and encourage this, but not all. Occasionally, parents do not allow access to technology.”
