Prior to using iMoves the profile of teaching and learning for dance was low. The school used a dated scheme that lacked structure and creativity. There was no guidance as to how to deliver dance lessons and this was often down to teacher interpretation. If you were a knowledgeable dancer then the quality of the lessons were fine. If you weren't knowledgeable then lessons lacked quality. Since using iMoves the quality of teaching and learning is now consistently high. The school had a recent Ofsted where PE was selected as a "deeper dive". The Ofsted Inspector spoke highly of PE and dance recognising the quality.

Mr Sly found imoves:
  • Significantly improves behaviour or wellbeing
The lessons provide a structure that children thrive on. It caters for all learning styles. For example, there are videos to support teaching and learning that enable to children to visualise and hear what they need to do. It also enables children to create their own dance routines which ensures children take responsibility for their learning and are engaged. iMoves also provide wellbeing sessions that have had a positive impact on children.
  • Significantly improves teacher knowledge and skills
It provides teachers with knowledge of how to get children moving to music and giving a dance a 'story'. It develops staffs knowledge of how to implement progressions. It also develops teachers knowledge of how to deliver the principles of dance: travelling, turning / rotation, jumping / leaping, balance / stillness, using different levels.
  • Significantly reduces teacher workload
Planning is provided for staff to follow. There are visuals (videos) and resources provided for each unit. This has significantly reduced teacher workload.
  • Significantly improves teaching efficiency and productivity
Due to the dance units following a similar organisation (e.g. planning, videos, resources, structure of lessons) this ensures that teachers are considerably more efficient.
