Review of Pixton

Now that the free version has been eliminated, schools/districts on a tight budget may not fund a subscription.

Jen Bergey found Pixton:
  • Does not significantly reduce teacher workload
You still have to pre-teach students how to use the program, plan for its use, create rubrics, etc. I use Pixton as a tool, not as the "be all/end all" for the lesson.
  • Does not significantly improve teaching efficiency
Pixton is a tool. Not a replacement for the lesson.
  • Slightly improves teacher wellbeing
I like that it allows my students to be creative. It doesn't effect me one way or the other.
  • Slightly improves behaviour or wellbeing
    Students are engaged.
  • Slightly improves attainment
Pixton does allow students to present what they have learned in a new fashion.
