Review of Reactored
Reactored

French teacher

Used Reactored for 7–12 months

At this point, it requires the teacher quite a bit of input to be effective. My view may be dependent on the rather little taught language couple French-Finnish. This is likely to be a HS language teacher's go-to tool, as acquiring material for HS students is about to become a struggle with the reform.

Leena Liimatainen found Reactored:
  • Significantly improves attainment
A reluctant class worked on a high percentage on an assignment they would have otherwise overlooked, and gained better results in a test.
  • Moderately builds student knowledge
Some quiet students get to show their knowledge and grit, some rowdy students end up doing good work.
  • Slightly reduces teacher workload
At this point, getting everyone on board is still a bit of a struggle, as the interface could be more intuitive. Preparing assignments takes either a lot of teacher's time or sacrifices class time, if you make students make their assignments themselves - although this latter can be quite effective. On a very much more positive note, you gain great level of scaffolding and Reactored works wonders for differentiation both for those who are unmotivated and struggle, and those whose learn is on the fast lane. Grading papers is such a breeze there should be a tax on that :)
  • Slightly saves school money
It's not the cheapest tool around, but you do get a lot for your money's worth. At this point, however, creating content is still a lot on the teacher. I'd love to see this tool coupled up with a publisher.
