Review of Reading Plus

Reading Plus has had a huge impact on our school. It is popular with parents, teachers and children alike. The children enjoy the texts they read, find out lots of new information from them and like how the Reading Plus dashboard looks. They love the competitive nature of the leaderboard and the certificates they get when they level up.
Sarah found Reading Plus:
- Moderately reduces teacher workload“Reading Plus saves two lessons of reading planning, which can take up to an hour each.”
- Significantly reduces attainment gap“We have had some 'hard to reach' pupils who have not read a single, physical book, but have attained well despite this, using Reading Plus. We have had significant successes with large percentages of pupils making 3 or more years progress, with the most being 8 years of progress in one year.”
- Significantly provides school data“We share the Reading Plus reports with parents at parents' evening. Data has also been shared trust-wide and to governors.”
- Moderately improves attainment“We have seen a large impact on reading fluency speeds for most children.”
- Significantly builds student knowledge
