• Significantly builds student knowledge“Sumdog Maths allows pupils to consolidate learning and develop confidence whilst participating in games based learning. From the initial Diagnostic Test, pupils can evaluate areas of strength and areas that require more practice. This can be discussed between pupil, Teacher and parents/carers at home to create a support network for progress.”
• Significantly improves teaching efficiency“Sumdog Maths can be accessed from home. This allows Teacher to set homework aligned with individual pupil progress. Tasks within the classroom can be easily differentiated to suit every pupil and the software will automatically provide challenge where appropriate. This reduces Teacher workload and allows staff to spend more 1:1 time with pupils to support their development. Assessments within Sumdog are self marking. This allows staff to quickly see pupil progress and plan next steps. All activities completed by pupils are logged within the Teacher account of Sumdog. Staff can see at a glance, whole class progress and can quickly identify areas for improvement. Many of the comments provided by Sumdog are also usefully linked to the Curriculum for Excellence which allows staff to lift comments and share with parents/carers through reporting or daily updates.”
• Significantly reduces teacher workload“As per my previous response, Teacher workload can be significantly reduced thanks to Sumdog's processes. The ability to record assessment results easily and use these to inform next steps. Comments from Sumdog can be used to personalise pupil reports, saving Teachers the time of trying to personalise comments and link to the curricular outcomes. Sumdog automatically generates level appropriate assessments, check ups and support questions which are differentiated to suit the needs of every individual. This is something that would normally take a lot of staff time to prep.”
• Significantly improves attainment“Pupils really enjoy engaging with Sumdog Maths because it is fun. This alone encourages them to choose to play Sumdog Maths even when it isn't a Maths time in the day/week. Pupils are selectively choosing to play Sumdog Maths which in turn is having a huge impact on raising attainment. Compared to staff asking pupils to work on their Maths skills or to practice at home, with Sumdog pupils are unaware that they are learning - simply having fun!”
• Significantly reduces attainment gap“During COVID, many of our schools relied heavily upon the use of Sumdog and access for pupils from home. If it hadn't been for Sumdog, our learners would be suffering greatly from an Attainment Gap situation. Thanks to Sumdog, many of our pupils continued to practice their maths skills. From the Sumdog assessments completed, Teachers could easily see where pupils were struggling and offer additional support and practice where appropriate.”
