Recommended Usage

We recommend 20 minutes of Basic Skills focus at the beginning of each maths lesson if only using for fluency and basic skills.

We recommend Britannica School replaces general internet searches within your school. Through daily use and interaction, students will be better equipped to research independently and become more knowledgable about the subjects they are studying.

Most Helpful Reviews

Big Maths

Kitty Duthie, Primary Teacher: I would recommend it as the online resources, including the CLIC, SAFE and Learn Its are very helpful. I like that data can be easily collected. Concepts are broken down well and the PowerPoints to go alongside these are helpful. I like that it is easy to see what concept to move onto next.
Carol Anderson, Acting Principal Teacher: Big Maths is a resource that can help deliver numeracy and maths. It should be used alongside supporting resources and activities but provides the progression steps that provide a clear pathway for learning and teaching.
Alan Thomas-Williams, Teacher (Junior Dept Maths Coordinator): I feel it’s invaluable in terms of formative assessment. It gives the school a strategic and developing framework of methods that graduate with comprehension from one to the next. It allows for both individual and group tracking and thus planning. It keeps skills that were previously covered once a year in the minds of pupils on a weekly basis. It helps engagement. It has improved results. The team at Big Maths are incredibly helpful and offer guidance whenever I’ve needed it.

Irene Igogo, Year 4 Class Teacher: the website is very useful during planning, especially for topics subjects and science but when I attended the training with my students I just realised that the website has more information that can help me and my students. I was very impressed with the content coverage of geography there are lot of useful information to explore. I teach volcanic eruption in Year 4 and during the training I, was able to see useful information which I did not use during my teaching.
Patrick Kariuki, Computing teacher: Best resource for safe exploration
