What is Earwig?
A software package designed by clever teachers to turn the whole business of providing teaching evidence, making assessments, tracking progress and reporting into a pleasure rather than a chore.
Schools spend too much time dealing with formative assessment and taking and organising their teaching evidence. Earwig is an app which solves this problem, enabling teachers to produce elegant timelines for every class, subject and pupil easily and quickly. Making, tracking and reporting assessments is also a doddle. No matter which assessment framework you use, just load it into Earwig and you’re away. Earwig is particularly useful for dealing with special needs assessment and has won many awards. It was deemed a “game changer” by The Sunday Times and won five stars in an independent test by the Educational App Store.

BRONZE The Bronze version of Earwig is a cut-down, self-setup version of the Earwig software package, for small schools and PRUs. It allows SENCOs and staff to assess pupils against up to four assessment frameworks selected from a library of over 50. The Earwig app allows them to capture evidence to support their assessments and share this with parents. They can also produce elegant reports and learning journeys. PRICE - £400 to £900 p.a. depending on pupil numbers and other setup selections. No setup cost.
SILVER The Silver version allows schools to choose more frameworks from a much wider selection of 300+ schemes in the Earwig Framework Library, and to modify these to suit the school pedagogy. Silver accounts have more features and options to enhance the value of the records created by staff and thus individual learning journeys. Reporting includes easy school analytics. Also self-setup, but with assistance from the Earwig team. Training also provided. PRICE - £700 TO £1,200 p.a. depending upon option selections. Setup cost depends on training required.

The team at Earwig have really supported Fountains to create a bespoke system to capture and record student progress. The Earwig software provides a range of features, such as their EHCP Framework, which allows for individualised student assessment and target setting. This makes it ideal for our SEND students.

We have found the company very easy to work with in terms of training needs and setting the whole system up. The design of the software is such that it has been possible to to be adapted to the needs of our school and those small adaptations were cost free. If we wanted to design our own framework we could, but there are so many frameworks already out there that the chances of us needing to do that are small.

Earwig is a simple system that allows work to be recorded quickly and records can be used for multiple purposes without having to duplicate yourselves which saves time and money.

Peter and Owen have been incredibly supportive of our schools efforts to improve things, yes at a financial cost to us but you are a business not a charity! Their response is most often really swift and always effective. I am confident that the impact will, in time, be a big one for staff workload in particular.
