I currently work with students with SEN who have all positively engaged with Maths Whizz regardless of their needs. Every student is able to access a bespoke tutoring programme independently and enjoy completing the challenges. They experience success in an enjoyable way and teacher work load is dramatically reduced due to the quality of the tutoring available.
Carey Knight found Whizz Education:
- Provides school data“Assessment and progress information is used to support Annual Review meetings, track student progress and support the tracking of homework. The information is used in parent reports and shared at parent progress evenings. The data is also useful for helping us to group our students accurately and provides support in planning as we are able to track students gaps and next steps.”
- Reduces teacher workload“Each of our students is able to work at a level appropriate for them without the teacher having to plan or resource anything. Students experience a personalised tutoring programme which they can access at home and in school without the need for anyone to explain what to do as the programme offers help if needed. Maths Whizz also enables teachers to assess students across all areas of the curriculum and review their strengths and next steps both individually and as a cohort very easily. Interactive resources can be used during lessons and printable worksheets are available to help embed the learning.”
- Reduces attainment gap“The fun, interactive programme is very engaging for the students to use so they are very motivated to log on and practice their skills regularly. It really helps to close the gaps that are easily missed when teaching whole classes and gives the opportunity for students to consolidate skills and improve fluency by using the short, recall activities regularly. Many students have made progress of over 12 months in a 5 month period. We have students who when they started in Year 7, were working at lower key stage 2 level and are now access GCSE in Year 10.”
- Improves teaching efficiency“Maths Whizz assessments show clearly students strengths and next steps so lessons can be used to address these effectively at the appropriate level. The tutoring programme enables all students to working at the same time on completely different things according to their next steps.”
- Improves parent engagement“Parents are able to support their child at home so can see what their child is working on and offer support if needed. Parents are provided regular updates with assessment and progress information from Maths Whizz. Many parents have reported that they have learnt something new whilst supporting their child!”

We have a weekly maths whizz challenge. Each class competes to win the maths whizz trophy at the end of the week. It is a great motivator. Most weeks 2 -3 classes have 100% of their children in the Hall of Fame. This is a great motivator for the children and ensures they are completing maths outside the daily maths lesson which has to be a good thing!

It has really helped to support our students and teachers. It can be difficult to close the gaps in Years 5 and 6 - Maths Whizz supports this. It is an enjoyable programme for the children to use and is extremely informative tool for teachers.
Rebecca Jelfs found Whizz Education:
- Reduces teacher workload“Reduced marking time - the programme marks children's work and provides instant feedback. Teachers can monitor progress and prepare for teaching further check ins on any areas of maths that a child is finding tricky. Ready made lesson plans and resources, independent learning time so that you know exactly what a child can do independently, data insights and homework management.”
- Provides school data“There is the data dashboard which gives children a Maths age and live updates on their progression. You can clearly track progress and work out averages for your class or year group. Teachers can quickly identify areas that need to be taught and any children who may require further support.”
- Reduces attainment gap“Students have personalised learning at their exact level. This stops children from being left behind or the gap widening. The pupil pages look the same so no child would be aware that they are doing different levels of work. This helps with their confidence and understanding in maths.”

It works and 'does what it says on the tin'. It is embedded within the daily teaching structures in the school and we plan to expand into KS1 and EYFS soon.
Richard Slade found Whizz Education:
- Reduces teacher workload“The catch-up learning, based upon great diagnostic assessments, is system led and very accurate. This significantly reduces teacher workload whilst improving outcomes”
- Provides school data“We get great school data that is timely and accurate. We can get pupil, class, year group and whole school data so we know where every child is now, where they started and where they're going.”
- Reduces attainment gap“Plumcroft has just been recognised by the Secretary of State for Education in relation to reducing and actually eliminating the attainment gap for disadvantaged pupils compared to their peers. Our combined outcomes for Reading, Writing & Maths for Disadvantaged pupils has been about 30% ahead of National for the last few years. Maths-Whizz is a key component in this success.”

As a Maths educator, I am pleased that children across both our campuses have the facility to practice their Maths skills - both in school and at home. This is done in an extremely child-friendly manner, whilst at the same time providing teachers with real-time assessment data about the learners in their class. Having used other platforms before, I would definitely say that Maths Whizz is the best on the market.
Tamara De Melo found Whizz Education:
- Reduces teacher workload“Setting topic foci on Maths Whizz can help to extend higher achieving learners in class or to scaffold lower attainers. This has been useful during lessons.”
- Provides school data“Maths Whizz is excellent in showing detailed learner progress profiles. Teachers can access their class data and use it as instant feedback to plan their next steps.”
- Reduces attainment gap“Maths Whizz enables children to revisit learning according to individualised needs. This means that children can rectify misconceptions quickly and make progress with their targets.”
- Improves teaching efficiency“Maths Whizz has begun to adopt Mastery methods for teaching Mathematics - this has proved very useful in our school setting as we have implemented the White Rose Maths Framework. Having Maths Whizz support our whole school approach to the teaching of Maths has been very beneficial to our teachers in setting homework and monitoring understanding of Mastery methods.”
- Improves parent engagement“There is direct engagement between parents and their children's Maths Whizz platform. Parents can monitor progress and attend Maths Whizz information workshops - especially beneficial to those new to the school. Our weekly Reward Assembly is also a time to recognize Maths Whizz achievements with personalised certificates, which we invite parents to.”

- Improves parent engagement“Parents are sent weekly emails to show their child's progress”
Jan 2026
Yes. I have just one small issue with the initial assessment. I teach the top maths set and if a child does not score particularly well on the assessment they can not see all the topic buttons (most often this is the fraction button for my set) and this causes untold stress for the child (and parent/carer) if their classmates can see the topic. I have been told they can resit the assessment but this then erases their Whizz Record completely. Our children start in Year 2 so if the button does not appear we don't want to wipe out their previous years work.
Mr Gs found Whizz Education:
- Reduces teacher workload“We use the programme as part of our weekly maths session. I encourage my class to gain entry to the Hall of Fame weekly and we also use two other maths programmes. If the children have gained access to the Hall of Fame they are then able to choose two other maths programmes to use (Purple Mash & Times Table Rockstars). In this hour of screen time it allows me to update planning for the forthcoming week. This is a great help and the children really do like using Maths Whizz.”
- Provides school data“We can track the child's progress on maths Whizz and also the amount of time that children access the programme. One of the major impacts on learning is spotting the children who are not logging on at home and we are able to identify those children who have no access to a machine or have internet at home. In short the class data allows us to encourage the children to be involved in maths in a fun way. For progress and for supporting children who are maybe struggling with a certain topic (e.g. fractions or division) we can direct them to work on those topics on the programme and monitor the improvement in their books and assessment.”
- Reduces attainment gap“Yes. I have taught some children over the last two years who have loved using Whizz Maths who do not attain the same results in a standard maths lesson. I run a weekly lunchtime club and some children have made rapid progress. We particularly see an improvement in PP children as access at home is often limited. Personally, I have worked with children with ASD who like the regular attainment format that Whizz Maths offers.”
- Improves teaching efficiency“In my case I would say no. I do wish there were some simple quick videos to show how children can use the programme and how their teachers can direct them to specific learning topics.”
- Improves parent engagement“Our parents are very aware of the programme and because the children get a maths attainment certificate most weeks (Hall of Fame) they have enquired more about this programme, than any other. It is important to remind parents/carers not to help the children with WhizzMaths and to leave them to it as this will disrupt the programmes A.I. featrues.”
