Alps provides a very visual identifier of progress which allows both under and overperformance to be very easily identified. The value added measures are easy to explain to members of staff who are perhaps not the most comfortable with the very complex equations found in some other value added measures. Being able to very easily explain where the thermometer outcomes have come allows the College to spend more time on what really matters; identifying areas of strengths and weakness and reacting with targeted interventions.

  • Improves attainment
    The Alps platform has allowed the College to be able to focus on particular cohorts of students whose improvement would have a meaningful impact on outcomes. The visual nature of the platform has allowed the College to present this information to staff in a clear and easy to understand way. A particular focus on learners with mid prior achievement has allowed the College to increase its high grade A*-B percentage from 57.9% to 65.1% in three years.
  • Improves school processes
    The College uses Alps with its internal assessment procedures which allows a clear value added performance to be seen across different cohorts in-year which allows for timely interventions.
  • Improves teaching efficiency
    Through being able to identify the performance of different cohorts in- year, more targeted interventions have been possible which has allowed teachers to place more focus on a smaller cohort of students.
