What is Alps?
Alps provides KS3, KS4 and KS5 performance analysis and tracking for schools, colleges and groups through our platforms Ascent, Connect and Summit.
Our analysis is simple, easy to use, and effective. Progress is measured against our own national, aspirational benchmarks to ensure all students achieve their potential. By turning complex data into clear, actionable insights we enable teachers and leaders to celebrate success, identify areas for improvement and drive better outcomes for every student.

I really like the support ALPS gives. They reply to emails immediately and are quick to help solve any issues we have. Excellent customer care. We enjoy using the temperatures and data correlates with our internal observation data of teacher/student performance. I didn't give it a perfect score as there are still some areas they could improve such as having a larger data set to determine value added for IBDP but overall ALPS has benefited us by quickly being able to highlight subjects/teachers/students we need to focus on to ensure we are getting the best value added for students.

It takes about 30 minutes to take all the data from our MIS system after Mock 1 or Mock 2, prepare the ALPS upload and then upload mock or real exam results. I gave Alps a score of 10 because it is intuitive, informative and easy to use, while offering considerable depth of analysis. It makes complex performance data accessible and helps identify the key questions to explore around quality assurance, attainment, student progress and reporting. As Director of Studies, I particularly value how effectively it supports focused, evidence-informed conversations with middle leaders, helping us translate analysis into clear priorities for teaching and school improvement. The excellent support and training have also strengthened my confidence in using the platform and leading its implementation across the school.

I have used ALPS in 2 different schools for the past 18 years, and have found it a very useful tool. My only reason for not awarding 10 is that the subject weightings can be a little confusing, so we have developed our own in-school system to slightly modify target grades.

Alps provides a very visual identifier of progress which allows both under and overperformance to be very easily identified. The value added measures are easy to explain to members of staff who are perhaps not the most comfortable with the very complex equations found in some other value added measures. Being able to very easily explain where the thermometer outcomes have come allows the College to spend more time on what really matters; identifying areas of strengths and weakness and reacting with targeted interventions.

I would rate this an 8 out of 10. While MTG and mean score variance across subjects provide a useful baseline for target setting, we need to layer additional expectations onto this to ensure that every subject is working towards at least an ALPS 3, irrespective of target distributions or subject difficulty. Its greatest strength is how it sharpens our conversations about progress, making it easier to identify where support is needed and celebrate where practice is strong.
