Used Lexia Reading Skills Software daily for 5+ years

As a retired headteacher of a primary school, I saw first hand the impact that Lexia had in supporting students who were struggling developing their reading skills. Now working in a secondary school I was unsure if it would have the same impact. Initially the programme was used during form time and it was not having a lot of impact. However, we reviewed how it was used and made changes, and now students using the programme are showing the same level of improvement in developing their skills that I saw in the primary school.

    Students are able to use skills learnt doing Lexia back in the classroom. Teachers have reported student's spelling and grammar have improved since doing lexia.

    Student's confidence grows and they move from 'I can't do this' to 'I will give this a try' and 'I can do this'.
  • Improves attainment
    Our school data clearly shows that all students make progress in reading, from 18 months to 5+ years, depending on how long they have accessed the programme.
  • Improves teaching efficiency
    Lexia is not just an on-line learning teaching programme. I am able to give individual 1-1 support when a student is struggling with a particular aspect. With Lexia's excellent tracking system I can also ensure that students are accessing all areas of the programme in equal parts and not just the ones they want to, e.g. students try to avoid grammar.
