I think Lexia has had such a positive impact on our children, it has given teachers a an opportunity to use a resource that is self-led, adapts if the child is struggling and is nothing extra workload wise. It has a way to track the usage and monitor the children's progress within a few clicks to download a report. Finally it is something teachers or TAs could use in their appraisal as evidence for interventions. The children are engaged, having fun and most importantly, learning.

Reply from Lexia Reading Skills Software:Thank you for your review! We are thrilled that you have seen such a positive impact with the program. We will be excited to hear how you are able to grow this success when you introduce the program to more of your pupils!
Amy Haigh found Lexia Reading Skills Software:
  • Slightly reduces teacher workload
The children who are on Lexia can be independent and complete purpose activities to help them to progress. This allows me to read 121 with those who are not on Lexia and monitor their progress. Since I know how well the program works I have such confidence to know they will be learning. My TA can then circulate the room and check the progress bar across the bottom.
  • Slightly provides school data
Since my latest online session with Alex Brown, I can now see how I can use the data so much more to my advantage. This is something I can take to my SLT meetings/governors and share the progress and impact more widely. Prior to this meeting my main use of the data was monitoring the children's usage and if they were meeting weekly unit targets. This is also checked more regularly this year by teachers and has impacted on those who were using it- since their progress is fantastic. It also highlighted those who are regular late comers, or absentees. Tracking the data has then enabled us to intervene and make sure those children catch up on their weekly usage.
  • Slightly improves teaching efficiency
I feel this has given teachers an opportunity to make sure that teaching/intervention time is purposeful, direct and tailored to the individual. Since they can track where the child needs instruction or consolidation with the skills builders this saves time making any additional resources.
  • Significantly improves attainment
For the past could of years, by our choice, the children who are on Lexia are the below readers. This was with the intention for them to catch up/have that accelerated progress and ensure they have a secure understanding in the previous year groups knowledge of word reading and comprehension. their progress was in some cases unbelievable. So we have been pleased with the impact Lexia had for those children. Now, after the online session with Alex Brown, I will be looking at a wider audience e.g. reluctant readers, those whose parents cannot/will not read with them at home and also the greater depth readers to ensure they are challenged.
  • Moderately builds student knowledge
The children who have made good progress from using the program have shown more engagement in reading lessons in class, they have also shared the fun facts they learn about the animals/habitats on Lexia during the little brain breaks and they have more confidence.
