Lexia is a useful piece of software, which, unlike some interventions, students are generally happy to use. It is highly personalised to their needs, and visible measures like streaks etc. help them to understand and appreciate when they have made progress. The UI for staff is intuitive and easy to navigate. However, sometimes there are issues with content loading (e.g., the site is slow to respond to students choosing their answers), and I have noticed that resources tend to default to American spellings/word usages, which can cause confusion in an English school.
Lana Wrigley found Lexia Reading Skills Software:
- Moderately reduces attainment gap“51% of all students enrolled on Lexia last year increased their Reading Ages (as measure by the Star Reading test). 33% of these increased by more than a year. 71% of our SEND students enrolled on Lexia increased their Reading Ages.”

Lexia is an incredible resource! We have had our implementation meeting with Jamie in which he showed us everything lexia has to offer and I feel we have only just scratched the surface. Lexia builds our children’s confidence in a fun and interactive and engaging manor. It helps a lot of children with different needs! Not just SEN but our EAL and those children that may just need to fill gaps! We as a shcool have really taken to Lexia as part of the ethos of our shcool! We had structured early bird morning sessions that run before shcool! Open to every single child ks1 and ks2 who has a lexia log in! These are run by myself! I am in shcool early to run these. Lexia is also used within shcool time as interventions. We are extremely proud to be a lexia shcool and Jamie recently emailed to say we are at 74% which is incredible since our meeting!

We are extremely impressed with the programme and the impact it has on our learning. The children who use the programme have developed a better understanding of phonics as a collective and are making significant progress in their reading and language within the classroom. There have also been significant improvements in the reading test data throughout the school from these individual children. The programme has now been integrated into our everyday practice, those who use the programme have been able to work more independently in and outside of the classroom without the continuous provision from an adult. The programme is fun and engaging and this helps learners in both the younger and older classes. We have also extended the use of the programme by encouraging the children to use it at home. This has again helped with the general usage of the programme, especially as it can be accessed on a phone, tablet or laptop. It has meant the parents are more aware of their child's learning and children are engaged both inside and outside of the classroom.

We could not be happier and more satisfied with the use of Lexia in our school. The constant support and annual training they offer provide us with access to all the tools available through the platform. We are using Lexia from Year 3 to Year 6, supporting children with their spelling and reading comprehension. Lexia sessions run daily before school, and teachers are already witnessing significant changes in students' achievements, particularly in their writing tasks and comprehension skills. The Lexia programme is also successfully utilised with SEND children at our school, giving them an extra boost and support. Parents find it very helpful that the guided tasks and questions children have to complete are clearly structured and explained.
