We used to live in Dubai and Bangkok prior to coming here and were a little hesitant at first. But this was quickly put to rest and we feel so fortunate to have found UWC Thailand. It’s honestly a hidden gem set on a beautiful tropical island. While they offer a complete IB program, which was key to us, it is the holistic educational view that makes it an ideal environment. There are not many places in the world where you can go sailing, surfing, golfing, hiking, trail running and much more, all within reach, and learn how to take in different perspectives from different people all over the world. This year, I believe we had over 60 different nationalities! Our son also enjoys swimming competitively, and has access to amazing facilities and elite program. Some of the older UWCT students he looks up to are even national swimmers and record-holders for their countries. It truly is a fantastic school worth considering.

I regret enrolling my child in UWCT. Education is poor quality, they aren't learning much. Education has to be supplemented at home to be on par with the knowledge they need to match national syllabus content of Russia, China, Singapore, etc. My child is ill-prepared and doesn't stand a chance to be able to compete with students from those countries. The kids in this school are not equipped with adequate academic knowledge to score the high grades required for entry to top universities.

The students from this school who make it to the top universities are international scholarship students who only do the final 2 years here.

The school has good outdoors program but nothing else going for it. While that is fun,  it is not part of an comprehensive all-rounded program. It is a very one-dimensional education.

The fees are very high for such a mediocre school. While the setting is pretty, the facilities are poor. There aren't any lifts for the mobility-challenged. They have no connection to Thanyapura anymore. Don't be fooled by their excellent marketing.  Many parents have changed their kids to other schools. The administration don't care that students leave because they say they have long waiting list. This school doesn’t care about anyone or anything, except maintaining a false facade. It is a very superficial place.

Some of the teachers are nice, but the administration are hypocrites who don't display any of the values of the UWC movement. You won't find any good hearts here, just dollar signs where their eyes should be. They are just nasty people.

Don't come to this school. They are better options in Phuket.

This school is a beautiful gift for our family. We came to Phuket in 2017, so our boys could attend UWCT, but the main reason was for one of them to attend the Arrowsmith program. After years of struggling to get the right solutions to help our son, Arrowsmith has been transformational for him, but UWCT has been more widely transformational for both of our boys.

UWCT is a beautiful school, which focuses on what really matters and that is setting our children up to be leaders in the future. If you do some research, central to the philosophy of UWC is “the belief that education can bring together young people from all backgrounds on the basis of their shared humanity, to engage with the possibility of social change through courageous action, personal example and selfless leadership.” That’s something I want for my boys!

I also love the focus on sustainability, mindfulness, physical development, but also respect, integrity, creativity, acceptance and so much more. All critical skills for future leaders, and an added bonus is a wonderful international community of like-minded families who get how special this school is. My boys have no idea how lucky they are attending UWCT, but I know when they grow into men, they will thank us for giving them this opportunity. If you want to set your children up to be stewards of the future, I couldn’t recommend a school more.

We are so happy to have found this school which is just perfect for our kids, tucked away on the beautiful island of Phuket. We moved here from Hong Kong, looking for a calmer pace of life away from the hyper-competitive and unhealthy pressures of the big city. After looking at all the schools on the island, we settled on UWC Thailand because we liked the holistic style of education, focused not just on academics but also on building strength of character, social skills, emotional intelligence – all the skills our kids will need to thrive in this fast-changing world. I was a bit skeptical of the mindfulness at first – my kids were 2 and 4 years old, how mindful could they be? – but over the past 6 years I’ve been blown away by the enormous impact the mindfulness and social emotional learning curriculum has had on my children’s development. They are kind and empathetic, to themselves and to others, they are resilient in the face of adversity, and they are building the tools they will need to manage the stress and pressure that will come later in school and in real life.

Academically, they are thriving, and thinking so much more deeply and creatively than I did at their age. Looking forward to graduation and beyond (it’s many years away, but I’m Asian, I can’t help it!), I can see that they will have a vast array of options, whether they set their sights on a Top 10 university in the US or Europe, a liberal arts college, a specialist school in design or politics, or some other path I haven’t foreseen. My friends whose kids have recently graduated say the college counselling is wonderful; the team are so dedicated to helping each student find the best fit for them.

I couldn’t be happier with the choice we made. This school is helping me raise my kids to be amazing human beings!

As an expat family, we can be quite transient, but one of the main reasons we love being here in Phuket is not only the wonderful lifestyle it provides, but also the amazing school we have access to. The teachers and staff are warm, supportive and caring, the curriculum focuses on more than just academics, it encompasses a worldly view, a truly diverse feel, mindfulness and social emotional learning. Everyday, my children come back happy!  Happy fulfilled kids = happy life.
My daughter's transition from primary school to MYP secondary school has been a breeze and she is really enjoying it!
UWC Thailand is really is a draw card for us, and it keeps us living here in Phuket. The school community/families are friendly and supportive.  As they say... "It takes a village...", the UWC Thailand village is really really special.
