What is Pupil Progress?

A subject, exam board, and qualification specific tracking system designed to calculate the grade a student is working at in your class, exactly as the exam board you are using does. This removes the need to use complicated spreadsheets that are difficult to use and maintain the accuracy of grade calculation.

The software is a cloud-based service, with each teacher able to create their own account and login. Teachers are taken through a very simple and fast set up process; select the subject area, the exam board being used to deliver the qualification and you are ready to go! Just start adding data for an instant grade calculation.

If teachers wish to add classes they can either share the lists through our GDPR Compliant Portal or they can simply upload a template containing student names. The Technical requirements are very low as the software has been designed to be as intuitive as possible to use.

We do offer and recommend a demonstration call so that teachers can see it in use to ensure that they are able to make the most out of the system. We also have live chat as well as a full tutorial video library showing users how to use each feature and why that feature is of particular use.

Easy and effective! Outstanding support from the technical team. Just a game changer in terms of data and how to use it!

Lorraine Coram found Pupil Progress:
  • Significantly reduces teacher workload
I have control over my own data - I no longer need to wait for others to upload information to enable me to complete analysis. Instead I have the most up to date information on my classes and clear overview on my cohorts which allows me to work to my own schedules. It also enables data to be live and real - rather than working with information which is out of date and /irrelevant. Lastly, all my data is in one place - I don't need to log in to various platforms to complete my analysis etc.
  • Significantly improves teaching efficiency
Timely intervention - based on live data!
  • Significantly improves teacher knowledge
I can quickly and easily see areas that my students are struggline with - it improves my knowledge of the students, but also my knowledge of my courses - in terms of what is being assessed when.
  • Significantly improves attainment
Intervention is able to happen swiftly, and pupils are also able to create revision plans based on the needs highlighted in their personal profiles.

Fantastic programme - would 100% recommend to others!

  • Significantly improves teaching efficiency
As in my previous example - simpler to find out grades and get detailed analysis
  • Moderately improves teacher knowledge
Grade boundaries etc will all be pre-populated on the spreadsheet
  • Moderately improves attainment
With better analysis of student progress, students who are working below expected progress can get more specific support on areas of weakness

This has changed my approach towards analysing data. The software provides an individual process which serves each subject. No longer am I getting overall data, I have how far off students are from grades, areas of weakness and strength. The software is easily to work and the team at pupil progress have always helped when I've requested it or needed to alter issues. This doesn't happen for individual subject leaders with the older software used. This is much more than an overall picture of your subject. It's a journey the staff and students can clearly see and get to the desired end goal.

Mark Thompson found Pupil Progress:
  • Moderately reduces teacher workload
It allows the department to focus on areas of weakness regarding particular questions so we focus on these. This stops needless planning of questions they are comfortable with. Discussions are easily led in department meetings as a result of the data and how it is displayed regarding individual students and classes.
  • Significantly improves teaching efficiency
Teachers can precisely pinpoint areas students need to work on. This can be question based or AO based. The software is easily for all teachers to use to effectively know the strengths and weaknesses according to the GCSE or A-Level papers.
  • Significantly improves teacher knowledge
The knowledge of question weaknesses for students has allowed my department to initiate professional development in how to tackle these questions. This being externally led or through external exam board sessions. Teachers within the department feel much more confident with their knowledge of the papers demands.
  • Significantly improves attainment
It is easy for students to get their own individual report which tell them weaknesses in AO's or on particular questions. Targets can be easily set to drive standards and attainment in these areas to drive outcomes for each student according to their needs on the paper or course.

Pupil Progress is not just a platform for storing results, it is a vital tool to support both teaching and learning. The support that the school has received has been second to none. Brett, Barnaby and Marta have been outstanding in helping our school to get to grips with Pupil Progress. The chat facility is great with immediate response and the 'How to' tutorial clips are excellent. We look forward to continuing the partnership for the next few years.

Reply from Pupil Progress:Thank you so much for the review Nia, we are so happy that you are having such a great experience. As always don't hesitate to reach out if you or any colleagues require any support!
Nia Wyn Roberts found Pupil Progress:
  • Significantly reduces teacher workload
There is no need to keep the old type of mark book or to struggle with number crunching as Pupil Progress does all this for staff.
  • Significantly improves teaching efficiency
Pupil Progress enables staff to drill down to identify areas which may required further teaching or support to secure learner progression.
  • Significantly improves teacher knowledge
It enables teachers to know what they taught effectively and what needs further work. It also enables teacher to be more confident when providing grades for learners as all grades have been calculated using previous grade boundaries. It also stores a wealth of evidence which has been utilised to support Centre Determined Grades in 2021 and Teacher Assessed Grades in 2020.
  • Significantly improves attainment
When sharing marks with learners, they are able to clearly identify their strengths and weaknesses. They can also see that if they work on specific aspects of certain questions, they can secure additional marks which then has an overall impact on their grade. I have used it to demonstrate what difference an extra one or two marks can have on a final grade.

Having a specific platform for tracking and monitoring pupils progress has been extremely helpful and this has helped with students current working grades, students predicted grades and the reports have been amazing to send home to parents and refer to on parents evening. This has all been so helping in the changing climate over the past year. With the uncertain way of grades to be given to students in the future, it is a great way to collate data and evidence for all cohorts registers to the platform.

Nikki Gore found Pupil Progress:
  • Significantly improves attainment
When completing an assessment, this can be entered into the tracking sheet and shared with individuals or the class to show areas of development, which can then link through to support, intervention and master classes.
  • Significantly improves teaching efficiency and productivity
Pupil progress can be used along side smith proformas and link into walking talking mocks to show grades students are currently working at, how far they are off the next grade and how they can progress in their learning.
  • Significantly reduces teacher workload
Tracking is all in one place, staff have a very easy upload system to follow to add additional tests/trial exams or unit exams into the tracking system on pupil progress. Once all in place the platform then create a report that can be shared on parent evening to give students and parents a clear focus on strengths and areas to develop. When carrying out data analysis each half term all information is available for all GCSE subjects that we have on the platform and staff can refer to this at all times. It shows very clear teacher assessed grades and how that related to grade boundaries.
  • Significantly improves teacher knowledge and skills
Staff are aware of students progress and knowledge in their specific subject, pupil progress acts as a tool that can be shared with staff, students and parents to show areas to develop all in one area. With clear facts and figures as evidence to support students progress.

It’s a fantastic tool to improve pupil progress, determine pupils’ strengths and weaknesses and help teachers to plan lessons which focus on pupils’ weakest areas.

Nadia Siddiqui found Pupil Progress:
  • Significantly improves attainment
The ‘working at’ grade which is calculated for each student really motivates students to put extra work into their studies and revision so that they can move up a grade or two. The grid at the bottom of the reports indicates how many marks are needed to achieve the next grade up and this is a great visual which further encourages our students to work that bit harder.
  • Significantly improves teaching efficiency and productivity
Teachers can clearly see the marks that students have achieved in each component of the exam and can focus future lessons/homework on the areas that students are weakest in.
  • Significantly reduces teacher workload
Rather than scaling raw marks or referring each time to various mark schemes when calculating grades, Pupil Progress does that all for you at the click of a button.
  • Significantly improves teacher knowledge and skills
The subject trackers are so detailed and contain so much information relevant to the teacher’s subject; it’s refreshing to see how many marks are available for each component of the exam, laid out in front of you.
